Northern Ireland represented in the BBMA

BIB readers who are members of the British Bluegrass Music Association (BBMA) or otherwise take an interest in its affairs will have noticed that for some years the BBMA has lacked an area representative for Northern Ireland. That gap has now been filled.

We're happy to announce that the new BBMA regional rep. for Northern Ireland is Sharon Loughrin of the Red Room (Ireland's premier house concert venue) in Cookstown, Co. Tyrone. The duties involve reporting to the BBMA, primarily for its excellent quarterly magazine British Bluegrass News, e-mailing details of bluegrass-related gigs, festivals, etc., in the North. Sharon says:

I'll get in touch with those I know who are involved in organising events, but anyone out there is welcome to e-mail me details of anything bluegrass going on in Northern Ireland (or phone 07747120659 after 5.30 p.m.), and I'll pass it on to the BBMA.

On a personal note, Sharon adds:

We had a great night with Southern Tenant Folk Union last night in the Barn - haven't got the photos loaded on Facebook yet, but we had a nice wee session afterwards which even included a bit of ukelele playing - great craic.
