New Dublin session every Tuesday

Thanks to Don Conlan for this news:

I'd like to notify you that two friends (Barney Bowes and Tony Macnamara) and I have started a weekly session in the Pale, High Street, on Tuesdays from 9.00 p.m. We play a mixture of Irish trad, country, bluegrass, and old-time tunes and songs. We are not professionals, but have been playing individually in sessions in Dublin for years. Several other musicians and singers are beginning to come by and, in order to keep the session ticking over, would like to extend an invitation to others to make use of this venue. It's an acoustic session, no mikes, and between us we play guitar, 5-string banjo, tenor banjo, mandolin, and fiddle, as well as sing.

I'm starting a website which will contain posters, photos, lists of tunes that we play, with chords, mp3s, videos (if the quality is good enough!), etc.

I'll set up an event and group on Facebook and MySpace. If you know of anyone who might be interested in coming along, or passing on the word, we'd appreciate your letting them know.

Update 2 Apr.: Don's online collection of photos from musical and other occasions since 2001 - including Dunmore East and other festivals, a Peter Rowan show in the Cobblestone, and Fair City Grass at Mother Reilly's - can be viewed here.

Update 16 May: We're sorry to hear that this session has been discontinued following a change in the Pale's management and schedule. Eight musicians took part on the final evening, and the search is on for a new mid-week venue.
